Full Transcript
PILOT
Good morning, Amerijet 213. 10,000 heading 280.
ATC
Amerijet 213, Oakland Center. Roger. Maintain flight level 230.
PILOT
Up to flight level 230, Amerijet 213.
ATC
And Amerijet 213, you're cleared on course to the first GPS fix there—304 at 12320.
PILOT
Cleared to the first fix. Heading 295 will be our initial heading. Will you be controlling us today?
ATC
No, I'll give you the next sector there and they'll have higher for you. You're doing some test flight out there?
PILOT
Yeah, we're just doing some parabolic test flights. We're going to need 190 to 340.
ATC
Watch for your request at the next frequency there. I just didn't need a point raise; that's where everybody comes into the area.
PILOT
Copy that. Thanks for your help.
ATC
Amerijet 213, go ahead and contact Oakland now on 134.15. Good day.
PILOT
134.15 for Oakland. Good day. Amerijet 213, Oakland Center, good morning.
ATC
Amerijet 213, Oakland Center. Good morning.
PILOT
Good morning. We're at 15,500 up to flight level 230. We're direct our first initial point and we'll need block airspace 19 to 34.
ATC
Amerijet 213, roger. When will you need that block?
PILOT
Well, we'd like to start the maneuvers at our first point and then continue on to our second point and do a turnaround—with you giving us the turn. We'd like it probably within five minutes.
ATC
Amerijet 213, roger. Standby for coordination. Confirm the block was 19 to what altitude?
PILOT
It's 190 up to 340.
ATC
Standby.
PILOT
Center, Amerijet 213.
ATC
Amerijet 213, Center.
PILOT
If it's easier for you to just put us on a heading and give us a turn, we can do it either way—whatever's easiest for you.
ATC
Amerijet 213, roger. Fly heading 250.
PILOT
Heading 250 for Amerijet 213.
ATC
Amerijet 213, I really haven't been advised on what you're doing. Are you just doing a test flight?
PILOT
We're doing zero-G. We're doing parabolic maneuvers.
ATC
Amerijet 213, roger. Maintain block flight level 190 through flight level 340.
PILOT
Maintain 190 through 340. And on a heading of 250 with you calling our turn, we're just going to stay on that heading, correct?
ATC
Amerijet 213, affirmative.
PILOT
All right, sir. And we'll be starting the maneuvers within three minutes.
ATC
Roger. Amerijet 213, Center.
PILOT
Amerijet 213, go ahead.
ATC
Amerijet 213, you're cleared to conduct operations within the lateral confinement of Whiskey 260. Confirm you have a map of that?
PILOT
Well, we have the maps. We'll have to take the maps out and look at them—just one second.
ATC
Disregard. I can call your turn.
PILOT
Thanks, sir. Amerijet 213.
ATC
Amerijet 213, Center.
PILOT
Yeah, I was wondering if I can request a 360 turn. They're setting up cameras in the back. It's going to be four minutes, and I don't want to just continue out west. A 360 would be perfect for us if we could do it, and then back to the heading of 250.
ATC
Amerijet 213, approved as requested. The left turn, a left 360, and then fly heading 250.
PILOT
Left-hand turn back to a heading of 250. Amerijet 213, thanks.
SPEAKER_01
Oakland Center, what type of aircraft is that? I was just curious what type of aircraft that was.
ATC
Type aircraft, who's calling?
SPEAKER_01
It's 64R16. I'm just curious what the parabolic was.
ATC
The aircraft is a Boeing 727.
SPEAKER_01
Thanks. A 722. Thank you.
ATC
Amerijet 213, fly heading 270 now.
PILOT
270 on the heading, Amerijet 213.
ATC
It's two minutes prior to your eastbound turn.
PILOT
Very good, sir. You beat me to the draw. I was about to call you. Two minutes from commencing maneuvers.
ATC
Amerijet 213, roger. And advise me when you're two minutes away from needing an eastbound turn.
PILOT
Will do that, sir. Will you prefer a left turn or a right turn to come back?
ATC
Amerijet 213, at this point it shouldn't matter. It'll be your preference at this point.
PILOT
Very good, sir. We'll give you a left turn, and I'll give you a two-minute warning before we turn.
ATC
About how long do you want to be out there doing your parabolic maneuvers?
PILOT
We do the turn, and then we'll probably need to come back and do one more quick turn to the west. I'd say the whole thing will be over within 15 to 20 minutes.
ATC
Amerijet 213, roger. And ready for the eastbound turn, make it a left turn, heading—actually make it heading 100.
PILOT
Left turn to 100. Can we delay that turn for 90 seconds?
ATC
Amerijet 213, approved.
PILOT
90 seconds, we'll make a left-hand turn to 100. Oakland, Amerijet 213.
ATC
Amerijet 213, go ahead.
PILOT
Yeah, we only have six more to do, but they've got to do something with the cameras. What I'd like to request is one more turn back out to the west. We'll do three, then a turn back to the east, do three, and then we'll be done. How does that sound?
ATC
Amerijet 213, approved as requested. I'll give you the right turn.
PILOT
Okay. In 90 seconds, we're going to do a right turn back to a heading of 270. We'll call you for the turn back to the east.
ATC
Amerijet 213, I've got an amendment to your routing if you can accept it. Advise when ready to copy.
PILOT
Okay, ready to copy the amendment.
ATC
Amerijet 213, cleared direct PIRAT (Papa-India-Romeo-Alpha-Tango), direct Moffett. Cross PIRAT at 10,000. San Francisco altimeter 3004.
PILOT
From present position, direct position PIRAT (Papa-India-Romeo-Alpha-Tango), direct Moffett Field. 3004. And I missed the part about 10,000.
ATC
Amerijet 213, cross PIRAT at 10,000. And again, the San Francisco altimeter is 3004.
PILOT
Cross PIRAT at 10,000, Amerijet 213.
ATC
Amerijet 213, I'm going to take you south for a couple of minutes due to traffic. For now, fly heading 160.
PILOT
Heading 160 for traffic. And do you want to call our descent or should we just start a descent down to 10 now?
ATC
Amerijet 213, you can plan for PIRAT at 10,000. You can start descent any time.
PILOT
All right, Amerijet 213. Regarding position PIRAT—not on the arrival—what position is it?
ATC
Amerijet 213, you looking for the lat-long?
PILOT
We found it. Disregard.
ATC
Roger. Amerijet 213, cleared direct PIRAT, direct Moffett, cross PIRAT at 10,000.
PILOT
Direct PIRAT, direct Moffett, cross PIRAT at 10,000, Amerijet 213. Just for one more round of these maneuvers—for planning purposes—will you want us to do anything different or are you going to be in here at that time?
ATC
Amerijet 213, probably not. It'll probably be a different controller here, but whatever you're doing was fine, depending on the traffic.
PILOT
Very good. If you could pass the word along to the next person coming over, we could work with headings—it’s perfect for us. It doesn't make any difference really. Over the ocean away from anyone, we could do it.
ATC
Amerijet 213, roger. That position where you guys were actually executing your maneuvers was fine. There should be no problems there.
PILOT
We really thank you for your help, sir. Appreciate it. Amerijet 213.
ATC
Amerijet 213, contact NorCal approach on 133.95. Good day.
PILOT
133.95 for Amerijet 213. Have a good day, sir. Thank you for your help.
